Head of Youth Development
Jayden is a Green Room Award Nominated contemporary dancer based in Melbourne. His dance company credits include Opera Australia, Melbourne Ballet Company, Quirky Productions, RickStix, Collaboration The Project and Vertical Shadows. Jayden is a principal artist for Transit Dance Company under the direction of Paul Malek, and featured in the critically acclaimed BOYZ and Yours Truly. In 2017, Jayden toured nationally in Opera Australia’s production of The Merry Widow, choreographed by Graeme Murphy.
Jayden is the Artistic Director of Origins Dance Company and the Producer of popular Melbourne dance events Dance Architect and UNDRGRND. His current role as Head of Youth Development at Transit Dance allows him to share his creative passion with the next generation of dance artists.
Head of Academic Studies
Carly is highly experienced educator and dance artist. Carly holds her Bachelor of Performing Arts and Diploma of Education from Monash University, and for the last 10 years has been one of the lead teachers of drama, theatre studies, dance and English at the highly acclaimed McKinnon Secondary College.
Carly has worked as a freelance dance teacher, choreographer and director at numerous dance education institutions across Australia. Carly is delighted to join us at Transit Dance and looks forward to undertaking the role of Director of Academic Studies. Her lifelong love of dance and performing, coupled with her expertise as a classroom educator makes her the ideal person for this position. She is committed to driving the students to be the best they can be academically.
Director of Education
Karen is one of the cofounders of Transit Dance, and the President of Transit Dance Initiative. She is an experienced dance teacher and dance curriculum developer, and holds her Diploma of Dance Teaching & Management, Diploma of Management, Diploma of Musical Theatre, Certificate IV in Business (Governance), and Certificate IV in TAE.
From 2007 to 2017 Karen was the President of Australian Teachers Of Dancing where she was also Chair of Curriculum Development. During her time on the Board Karen was instrumental in creating the ATOD Emergency Relief Fund, and in the development of the Classical Ballet, National Character, Tap, Jazz, Street Beat, Contemporary and Hip Hop systems of training.
